Senior Accountant/Analyst

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Controller, the Senior Accountant/Analyst performs complex work of considerable difficulty in nonprofit accounting and financial analysis.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Prepares complex analyses by gathering financial data from various sources.
  2. Develops financial forecasts and assists with the budgeting process, including analyzing budget requests and conducting cost analyses.
  3. Tracks revenue and spending for all ancillary services and works with clinical leaders to identify opportunities.
  4. Prepares complex balance sheet, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.
  5. Analyzes accounts receivable for varied service lines.
  6. Reviews service line budgets and volume reports for spending trends, referral trends, opportunities for cost savings, strategic sourcing, and related financial management improvements.
  7. Maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded.
  8. Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
  9. Prepares various reports for internal and external users.
  10. Assists heavily with the external audit.
  11. Assists in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.
  12. Keeps abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes and best practices in healthcare finance.
  13. Goals are general communicated in “solution” or project goal terms.
  14. Other duties and projects as assigned.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, required.
  2. CPA license or Masters of Accountancy, preferred.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
  1. 5+ years accounting/finance experience.
  2. Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  3. Experience with Oracle or other similar accounting software.
  4. Not-for profit and health industry experience a plus.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience working with complex spreadsheets and pivot tables.
  6. Strong analytical and accounting skills.
  7. Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  9. Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction.
  10. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies.
