Catch Me If You Can!

New Version of the AICPA Forensic Accounting Game

The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) recently announced the launch of the new version of Catch Me If You Can!  The original award-winning forensic accounting game was a runaway hit played by thousands of college and high school students nationwide, as a part of the Start Here Go Places CPA student recruitment campaign. The new edition is even more interactive, exciting and educational. The game which was launched on January 31, 2005, will remain active for a period of approximately one year.

The Catch Me If You Can game offers students the opportunity to develop their analytical and reasoning skills by giving students three fictional cases to solve using a few clues and their business smarts. In unraveling the mysteries, students will also learn about the business of forensic accounting, and have fun.

Catch Me If You Can, the second edition has three all-new cases for students to solve.  Here's how it works:

  • Students register online to play the game at either
    www.CatchMeGame.com or www.StartHereGoPlaces.com

  • They have three cases to solve: "Bling Bling Bad Guys" (jewelry theft and insurance scams); "Stadium Scam" (construction problems and a dead body); and "Trouble in Tulsa" (oil companies, real estate and fraudulent financial statements).

  • Students collect clues, develop a solution to the crime and present their case.

The game was recently marketed directly to college and high school students nationwide through an extensive e-mail media campaign, via teachers and professors with whom the students have relationships, and through online advertising.  After playing the game, students will receive an assessment of their game play and also are directed into www.StartHereGoPlaces.com (an AICPA website for students) for more information about the world of business, accounting and CPA certification.

We encourage you try out this exciting, fun game and education tool. If you would like to check out Catch Me If You Can, please visit www.CatchMeGame.com.
