1st Annual Young CPAs Conference
The 1st Annual Young CPAs Conference was held at the Arkansas Society of CPAs Conference Center on October 29, 2009. With over 100 participants, 40 and younger, it was a HUGE success. Although the weather was cold and wet, Young Members, Student Members, Associate Members, Accounting Students and guests came from all over the state for this opportunity to network with colleagues.
Conference speakers included: Past President and Committee Chairman Ronald F. Pitts, who spoke on Technology and XBRL. ASCPA Board Member Jerry E. Spratt, presented Fraud and Fraud Prevention. ASCPA Board Member Charlott A. Jones spoke on Financial Literacy, and Past President and Committee Chairman Keith Crass presented Professional Ethics. The speaker panel was very informative and enlightening, as each speaker took a moment to reflect on their own personal journey and experiences encountered as a CPA.
We would like to personally thank each of you that attended and participated in the Conference. We would also like to thank the ASCPA Young CPAs Committee Chairman, Shelley Hughes, and Committee members Brad Roethlisberger and Beth Smith for attending and showing their support. If you would like to be a part of the Emerging CPAs Committee and help plan for future events, please contact Lisa Hunt at the ASCPA office (501) 664-8739.
We look forward to the 2nd Annual Young CPAs Conference, which will be held on October 28, 2010, at the ASCPA Conference Center!
