Mentor/Trusted Advisor Program
Mentor/Trusted Advisor Program
The ASCPA is offering to the membership, a personalized and confidential Mentor Program to all CPAs that are 40 years of age or younger, anyone that has passed the CPA Exam within the past ten years, and/or to college Accounting students. According to a recent AICPA poll, the most important issue facing CPA firms today is finding and retaining qualified staff. Take a good assessment of your organization. How many people will retire within the next 10 years? 5 years? Are you ready? Who is left to carry the load? If the future of your organization is uncertain, it is time to make a change.
As a young professional starting out in the financial world, wouldn't it be great to have all of the answers at your fingertips? Everyone needs a little advice from time to time, a second opinion, or someone to act as a sounding board for an idea that you might have. There is no reason to go it alone; not when there are well grounded, experienced, professional CPAs that are willing to share their expertise and knowledge with you.
For the Mentor: The ASCPA has formed a Mentor bank, which includes all mentors from each Chapter area. If you would like to be a part of this very worthy cause, please click on the link below (Mentor/Trusted Advisor), print and fill out, then email to lhunt@arcpa.org, or fax to 501-664-8320. Based on your fields of interests and the criteria you've selected, you will be paired with a young new professional that is serious about his career as a CPA, and is interested in becoming a leader in this profession.
By taking on a mentoring role, you will get to share in the achievements, as you watch your protege' grow personally and professionally. This is an opportunity to "give something back to the profession", or as some people say, "paying it forward". You will help create a pool of future leaders within the profession by actually nurturing and molding future generations. Wouldn't you feel safer going on that long vacation or even considering an early retirement if you were leaving your organization in the hands of someone that you've personally trained yourself, someone that's trustworthy and shares in your common beliefs and high standards?
The purpose of this program is to provide young/new professionals with resources and knowledge they need to better their career and become future leaders. By taking on a mentoring role, you will help expedite the learning process and gradually reduce the experience gap between the leaders of today and the leaders of tomorrow. Plus, YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW. Learning and gaining new perspective and insight from the younger generation's viewpoint will keep your firm on the cutting edge of an ever-changing society. Of course, the real benefits of this endeavor will continue to be seen for many years to come. This program will also help you find, recruit, and retain the smartest and brightest young talent in the profession. The ASCPA receives requests for mentors from all Chapter areas, so please do your part and help us continue to offer this program to the new CPA membership.
This program can take as little as 30 minutes a day, a week, or even 30 minutes a month, of your time. You decide. You will change someone's life forever, if you volunteer for this program. Be a part of the solution, volunteer today!
