AICPA and Workplace Leaders in Financial Education Recognized at Treasury Event

On January 19, the nine winners of the 2011 Workplace Leaders in Financial Education Awards were recognized at a special event at the U.S. Treasury. This event followed a meeting of the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability, a group of non-governmental representatives appointed by President Obama to assist Americans in understanding financial matters. During the Council meeting, Carrie Schwab-Pomerantz, President of The Charles Schwab Foundation and Council member, recognized the AICPA, the Society for Human Resource Management, the AICPA’s partner on the WLIFE award, and the winners for contributions in promoting the importance of workplace financial education and improving the financial well-being of the country’s workforce. The recommendation for such an award was proposed by the Workplace Subcommittee of President Bush’s President’s Advisory Council on Financial Literacy and is an initiative of 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy, the volunteer effort of the CPA profession to improve the financial understanding of Americans of all ages.
